About us

FishCulture. Not just a catchy phrase. The term evokes an ancient Christian symbol: the fish. Some of the first followers of Jesus were fishermen—a noble trade at the time. As the gospel stories recount, there was something intriguing, inspiring, and compelling enough to convince these men to bail on their livelihood, and spend the better part of their days following this rebel rabbi proclaiming and living out a counterintuitive way of life.

We happen to believe that these fishermen weren’t all that crazy. Nor was their Rabbi. We happen to think these men lived a culture worth losing it all for, and we seek to live it too, in hope that we might experience life as it was made to be. Curious, huh? You should come and see for yourself.

Alex’s faith journey has led him to a number of years of working with the young adult community at Knox. He’s a trooper. He’s gifted at growing community and seeing God move in the city and culture. Loving husband and father of three. Master of the awkward-worship-service segue. He loves his kimchi. Alex is currently taking a little time off to work on his PhD—a pursuit of learning, discerning, and writing about the history of the church in Toronto.
